Asafoetida Resin (Heeng / Hing)

While the asafoetida plant is most known as an herb for use in food, it also is a powerful form of incense that when burned cleans our astral (emotional) environment.

If you have been feeling emotionally drained, low, or dark, you might need to do a good cleaning, especially of your bedroom. You can also pass the smoke of asafoetida around your body. We use it regularly, sometimes more than once a week (especially after being in places where people suffer or are intense). People who live or work in intense environments can use this incense daily to stay clean.

As a cleansing incense it is very effective, totally natural, and far safer than using sulfur powder.

This asafoetida resin is produced in India for use in food. It is the highest quality available. It is many times stronger and purer than the powdered versions sold in stores.

Because this asafoetida resin is so potent, usage only requires only a tiny amount. However you use it, start with less than you expect to need. For instance, on incense charcoal, you only need one or two small pieces. In cooking, a very tiny pinch is enough.

Asafoetida is highly valued for its rich flavor. Since this resin is very high quality, it is also very "aromatic." It does not smell like the parsley / fennel family it comes from, but more like roasted garlic or onions. When cooked or burned as incense, the fragrance changes.

Includes one (1) ounce of asafoetida resin, packaged in a reusable, food-grade pouch made from natural Japanese kraft paper with a resealable airtight zip lock closure.

USES OF ASAFOETIDA

  • Sprinkle on incense charcoal to create smoke that will cleanse a space
  • Use as a spice in your cooking (its great in dal)

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Good quality asafoetida resin is sold in chunks to prove it is pure (ground asafoetida is usually mixed with fillers, like wheat). To prepare for use as incense, it is advisable to crush the chunks into powder; this helps it burn more cleanly and avoid a "burned" fragrance.

In a brazier or fire-safe pot, light an incense charcoal. When it is white hot, place a little bit of incense onto the coal. The smoke will purify the area.

Clearing Support for Heavy Energy Days

I ordered this resin from Glorian to help me reset after long, energetically draining days in the judicial system. It’s become an important part of my daily spiritual cleansing. I burn it over charcoal and incorporate it into prayer, conjurations, and necessary exorcisms. It’s most effective when used in a space without a fan or AC vent blowing on it—this helps you make the most of the smoke rather than dispersing it too quickly.

The scent is unique—reminiscent of a Mexican spice with a slight hint of onion. It’s not unpleasant, but it does linger, so I use it in open areas of my home rather than in my meditation or study space.

A little goes a long way if you plan your ritual ahead of time and have your prayers and conjurations ready. This way, you don’t need to burn a lot to create a powerful, focused atmosphere for clearing and grounding.

PS I have not used it for cooking as of yet.

Safer than BrimStone

As the title states, if you or any other member of your household suffers from respiratory illness, then this is the obvious choice for clearing the home and safe spaces.
